The person behind @hautecouturejournal loves everything about fashion, Candice Swanepoel, '90s models and Elie Saab! She asked to remain anonymous but doesn't mind to share her thoughts with the rest of the world.
When did you start your account and what is the reason behind it?
I started my account a year ago, January 27, 2017. I created it because one of my passions is fashion world. I saw a lot of fashion accounts and I was interested in it so, I created one myself. Since then I am very passionate about fashion, not only the current one, but also the '90s. For me, this account is a form of serenity where you can spend time discovering new things about fashion. That sounds very inspiring, combining the past with the present. But, for you, which era in fashion is better, the 1990s or today?
Well, I have to say the 1990s!
To be honest, I hoped so! And what about that era do you prefer?
I like that era for several reasons. First of all, the models had original personalities they projected on the catwalk. In fact, their walks were insane, the collections were unique, the shape of clothes was particular for each dress that suited the body of every model, the body shapes were something exceptional! They had well-proportioned bodies that "shouted" a sense of harmony and grace. They were all so unique and timeless.
I definitely agree. Especially the fact that models "danced" on the catwalk. Is there any model from that era that you like exceptionally?
Absolutely yes! First of all, gorgeous Naomi Campbell then, I really adore Stephanie Seymour, Christy Turlington was such a gem, Karen Mulder, Yasmeen Ghauri was so uniquely beautiful, Tyra Banks and more.
Yes, so many beautiful and talented models of that era. What about the latest models?
This era has several models that I like that have talent, personality and potential to really get high. Vittoria Ceretti is one of the first ones that I like so much. She's doing a good job and I hope she can stay in the fashion world for many years. Blanca Padilla is a marvel of nature. I love everything about her, especially her face that's so damn pretty! Birgit Kos is so good in editorials and she gives me '90s vibes. Yasmin Wijnaldum has a killer walk, a beautiful girl. And then Imaan Hammam is such a supergirl with a great walk, attitude, and personality. I love everything about her.
I still remember you said you love Candice Swanepoel. Can you tell us why and send your favorite photo of her?
Yes, she is my favorite model. I love her face, her body, her humbleness, and sweetness. Lately, she's not working in high fashion, but I think she is suitable for both high fashion and commercial work. And let's not forget her talent for Victoria's Secret. She is the queen of the brand.
Yes, she is gorgeous and talented! What about designers?
I appreciate many of the designers, some of them are Paolo Sebastian, Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad and Georges Hobeika. Speaking of Dior, I think one of its best designers was John Galliano. He was such a great genius for this brand, he created pure art. Same for Alexander McQueen, I loved his gothic creations, he was a great artist and I wish he was still here to surprise us with his great talent.
A designer who reminds me a lot of Alexander McQueen is Guo Pei. She is so bright! Her collections go from simple to complex where she manages to mix gothic and elegance.
Another brand that I love is Dolce & Gabbana. Obviously their old collections were better than those of now. I love the baroque style that they use in clothes. I also appreciate the value they gave to my Sicily.
